Only a few days ago, ChatGPT quietly stopped being a chatbot for everyone. There's a new tab at the top that says work, and millions of people will likely click it for the first time this week. Because until this week, that capability was baked into a tool called Codex. And Codex sounded like it was built for programmers. So, few ChatGPT users ever touched it. But here's actually what changed with that capability {slash} tool. Is instead of typing a question and getting back an answer, similar to ChatGPT, instead with this tool, you hand it a whole job or task. It'll go off and work on that for hours without you having to watch it. It'll then come back with finished work, such as spreadsheets, reports, decks, all types of things. And it's already included in what you're paying for. If you're new here, I'm Dylan. I run an AI consultancy. And I've spent the last few months moving my clients onto this exact tool, back when it still had the scary name of Codex. So, in this video, I'll show you the four settings to get it right before your first task. And then the five places this tool gets its true power. So, let's get into it. Now, the big news here is that OpenAI has combined Codex with ChatGPT into a single super app they're calling ChatGPT Work. And this is now available on Mac, Windows, and chat.openai.com. It's specifically right now available for Pro, Enterprise, and {dot} edu users. And then probably in the next week or so, it'll be available for Business and Plus. And then finally for the free users, they'll get access eventually with smaller models. Now, and the way you can see this is if you simply go to chat.openai.com, you log into your account, you'll see that there's a new toggle here for work. So, we have chat and work. The slight difference between the two is that when you look at work, you have a few additional options. So, we have choose and a project, so you can work inside of a project here. And I'll talk specifically about why this matters for the desktop app in a second. We then have plugins where different systems AI can access and use, which it has always had, but again, this is slightly different for the desktop app. Then we have some suggestions here of how we could use this based off of what OpenAI thinks is suitable for the systems in the work we have currently. Now, what's novel here and why is there so much leverage that can be created by using this tool? Well, the true power sits inside the desktop app. So, the first thing you need to do is download the ChatGPT desktop app. Once you've downloaded it, it's going to look something like this where you have the app and then there's a series of things that are new here. The primary thing that's different between the browser and the desktop app is AI's ability to access files and folders on your computer. It seems like a small thing, but it's a huge lift in the value that you can get from these tools. Now, all of these folders here on the left-hand side, these are actual folders on my computer. So, health is a folder on my computer I've opened here. And the way that I would do that is if I go to health here, I have a series of options. I can choose previous folders I've already done or I can add a new project. When I say new project, we can start from scratch or we can use an existing folder. I'd recommend using an existing folder for most of your specific tasks. So, when you do use an existing folder, it then shows you all the different folders you can choose from. Once you've selected a folder, you can select it and click open and it'll show you something like this where you have the folder you selected. Now, in doing this, there's a series of steps you need to make sure that your setup is done effectively. Quick pause your video. If you're enjoying this, you're going to enjoy two other things. First off, below is a 30-day AI insight series, completely free. You'll get 30 insights in your inbox of how you can apply AI to your business and your work. The second thing is if you'd like to work with me, below are a series of offerings to see if there's a good fit between the two of us. Now, let's go back to the video. The first thing is that when you open a folder, that folder should be dedicated to a given task. A common mistake I see a tons of people make is they open up their downloads folder or their documents folder or even their overall desktop. And when they do that, that folder has tons of things that are unrelated to each other and it's overwhelming for the AI, which reduces the quality of the output from it. So, when you create new folders on your computer, specifically that are going to be used in relation to ChatGPT work, you need to make sure that those folders are scoped to a given task and a given topic because a focused AI is a smart AI. Remember that. That's the first step in our setup. The second one is choosing the right model for the job. And right now, since these new models, GPT-5.6, Sol, Tera, and Luna, are so toke
