Every week you sign things you never really read like a contract, a lease, renewal and usually it's fine until there's one line you skipped that ends up costing you. If you're new here, I'm Dylan. I run an AI consultancy and I watch business owners and executives make the same mistake where they drop in an important document to AI and ask for a summary and then trust the answer. Today I want to show you four prompts that make AI tell you what a contract really does to you, not just what it says. So by the end, signing won't mean hoping that it's fine. You'll know exactly what you're agreeing to. So, let's get into it. So, these are the four primary steps that I recommend anybody take when you're looking at a document that has high criticality. There's some sort of serious commitment you have to make to it. So, you should review it methodically. Now, what I'll do is I'll give you a quick overview of these four steps. Then I'll walk through each one in detail. And each one has a prompt that you can copy and paste and use yourself for each one of these steps. As a quick overview, the first one here is decode. So, decode is simply converting usually jargon into plain English. Often times contracts, leases, insurance, etc. tends to have a lot of acronyms and jargon and references to other subsections. You want to convert that to plain English so you understand exactly what it means to you. After that, we're going to expose the elements that are relevant for us. So, we're going to have the AI pull out the 20% that matters most and rank prioritize it based off of our interest and our situation. Then we're going to have the AI check its work making sure that everything it shared with us has citations ensuring it's directly inside the contract so we know exactly where it's from. And finally, we'll have the AI draft an answer for us back to the individual. So, if it's a vendor, a client, etc. Drafting not just a response, but also suggested edits to the contract in a way that our recipient would be more likely to accept it. Those are our steps. The very first one is doing more than just summarizing the document. Often times, like I stated previously, people take a large document like a contract, drop it into an AI and say summarize this for me. But instead, what we want to do is decode it and decode it in a way that's relevant for us. So, what do I mean by decode? Well, first off, we're going to have the AI extract the information that's relevant for our situation and knowing our side of the party that's in relation to this lease, contract, whatever else. It's going to rank prioritize the things we should be aware of, and then make sure whatever it provides back is something that we can read in 2 minutes or less. And that's important, and I'll show you the exact prompt in a second. But, the reason it's important is oftentimes these documents can be really long. And if you have a 50-page document you ask the AI to summarize, it might give you back 10 or 15 pages. So, sure, that's less than 50, but it's way too much for you to want to read. Quick pause in your regular programming. This video is brought to you by me, as always. Two quick things. First off, below is a 30-day AI Insight series, completely free. You'll get 30 insights in your inbox for how you can apply AI to your business and your work. The second thing is if you like somebody like me in your business helping you leverage AI more effectively, you should look at some of the offerings below and see if there's a good fit between the two of us. Now, let's get back into the video. And here's the exact prompt I recommend you start with and edit and customize to your situation. So, the very beginning portion of this prompt, we're simply laying out our situation. So, we're telling the AI, "Here's my situation. I'm fill in the blank." So, fill in the blank up who you are and how this correlates to this document that you're going to sign or or review. And after that, you're going to state what side of this document you're on. Are you on the buyer side, the vendor side, the tenant, etc.? And then finally, you'll state what you care most about in regards to this contract or this lease or whatever else. Once we've given our situation to the AI, then we're going to ask it to review the document. So, here we're saying, "Here's the full document." Either it's attached or it's pasted above. And then I want you, AI, to give me back a plain English overview that's short, specifically short enough for me to read it in 2 minutes. So, it's likely going to be one page to a page and a half. After this, I use one of my favorite kind of go-tos for prompting AI, and simply asking it to write it at a fifth-grade reading level. So, it's very simple, no jargon, no acronyms, and and understand it. Then next, I list out some of the parts that are likely most relevant for most documents. So again, you can edit all this and customize it to your situation. Some things I've listed here are
